The Priory
While the Abbey is hidden in forests by magic, the Priory has no such need for such complex spells - after all, not everyone can scale the mountains that the Priory is hidden away in. While there are still magical protections involved, the seemingly impenetrable mountain is a deterrent enough for anyone who wishes to intrude, and even the most well-planned attacks have failed. After all, the Priory has survived multiple sieges. Built for and by the Wolves, this labyrinth-like cave complex is both beautiful and awesome, providing sufficient protection and comfort when the need arises - as well as a perfect vantage point to look out for either intruders or friendly visitors.
Stairway to the Skies - the Hike
The Priory's defences have traditionally been very secure, and very harsh to intruders if they even dare to endeavour an intrusion into the labyrinth that is the Priory. The very first level of deterrence, of course, are the maze-like mountain paths that one must climb when trying to reach the Priory's main entrance. These hikes are not for the faint-hearted, and even if one came ready prepared to tackle the extensive staircases, without the appropriate magic markings showing, the hikers will get hopelessly lost to the point they will only find themselves at where they started.
Of course, there is an element of magic in play here to prevent any wayward hikers or spirits from entering, but those who are truly worthy of entering the Priory are the ones with physical endurance and sheer perseverance. And plenty of supplies. |
The Priory - the Wolves' Den
The Wolves weren't called the Wolves without good reason - and one of them is their labyrinth cave-fortress known as the Priory, where they reside. Surrounded and nestled deep within a mountain after a long, gruelling hike (or magical teleport, if you're part of the Wolves already), the rooms and facilities are all carved in and out of stone, which keeps the place cool in the summer and warm in the winter. It has one of the most impressive views, looking over a distant sea as well as the forests below, which is much needed - the Priory, after all, is situated at the back of the region, keeping a watch out for any odd occurrences that may occur in the region as lookouts.
The Priory threads itself within an entire mountain, and rumour has it that there are at least five floors within the massive complex itself, but no one's ever decided to take on the mammoth task of cataloging it all. Or perhaps someone has, and does not wish to repeat the effort again. Regardless, the Priory has been able to survive long-term sieges, both in the past and now, and communications are often by magic or one of their specially trained birds that know how to bob and weave and generally avoid capture until the message is delivered.
